Context 2 AI-Generate Art

The conclusion of Davis' article mentions a topic that I am particularly interested in: his predictions about future forms of information interaction and the generation of computer-generated imagery, which are now rapidly developing through artificial intelligence and virtual reality technologies. It is worth noting that at the time Davis wrote this paper, computer technology had not yet become widespread, and he could not have anticipated the significant impact that AI art, particularly AI-generated paintings, would have on the art world today. This raises my intense interest in whether his attitude towards new tools still applies to AI painting.

As a result, I began searching for creators who utilize AI painting for artistic creation and found the answer in Turkish new media artist Refik Anadol. Anadol's artistic practice revolves around exploring the intersection of art, science, and technology. He employs advanced computational algorithms and machine learning techniques to analyze and process large datasets, including archival materials, photographs, and audiovisual recordings. By utilizing these technologies, he generates mesmerizing visualizations and dynamic installations that challenge traditional notions of art and perception.

In his hands, AI painting becomes a tool and medium for artistic creation. In his notable work "Machine Hallucination," he utilizes deep learning algorithms and processes over 100 million images of New York City, resulting in a captivating and ever-evolving visual projection. Another significant work by Anadol is "WDCH Dreams," a collaboration with the Los Angeles Philharmonic for the centennial celebration of the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. By using real-time data from the orchestra's performances, Anadol creates a dynamic display of light and projection mapping that transforms the iconic building into a living entity, blurring the boundaries between architecture and art.

These exceptional and successful works have inspired and encouraged me to explore the potential applications of AI painting in my own artwork and provide theoretical guidance for my game art production process.
